Bio

Mr. Hoblit attended the University of Texas at Austin where, as an undergraduate, he was selected for the Business Honors Program. He graduated in 1981 with a B.B.A. in Accounting with Highest Honors. He then attended the University of Texas School of Law. He graduated in 1984 with a Juris Doctorate Degree with Honors.

Mr. Hoblit is admitted to practice in the state of Texas, all federal district courts in the state of Texas, the United States Tax Court, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.  He has also been admitted pro hac vice to numerous federal and state courts around the country.

Mr. Hoblit is a certified public accountant. He is board certified in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and board certified in civil trial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mr. Hoblit is listed in the 2009 through 2019 editions of Texas Super Lawyers. He is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and has been chosen as a Top-Rated Lawyer in Commercial Litigation and Energy, Environmental and Natural Resources. In 2017, he was elected a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

Mr. Hoblit has been a practicing attorney in Corpus Christi for 35 years. His primary focus is in oil and gas litigation, large commercial disputes and significant personal injury litigation. As lead counsel, he has tried and won approximately 75 jury trials for his clients. He has tried cases in state and federal courts from El Paso to the Rio Grande Valley and in all major metropolitan areas of Texas.  He has also tried cases in numerous state and federal courts around the country, including the United States Tax Court. As lead counsel, he has also successfully argued and won cases before many Texas Courts of Appeal, the Texas Supreme Court, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition to his courtroom work, Mr. Hoblit has successfully defended his clients in arbitrations around the country.

Mr. Hoblit is known as an aggressive and effective advocate for his clients. After graduating from the University of Texas School of Law with honors in 1984, he started his career as a tax lawyer, using his training as a certified public accountant to solve tax and business issues for various private and public entities. However, he was soon drawn to the courtroom, and in 1987 he began his career as a trial lawyer by defending insurance defense clients in personal injury jury trials in various counties along the Mexican border and in South Texas. He soon gravitated toward commercial disputes, and now represents Fortune 500 companies, large privately held companies, and other business entities in civil litigation throughout the country.  The breadth of his jury trial experience is significant.  Mr. Hoblit has obtained defense verdicts for his clients in a wide variety of cases, including cases involving catastrophic personal injuries, breach of contract, tortious interference with a contract, fraud, employment discrimination, breach of partnership, and environmental contamination.  As an effective advocate for his corporate clients, he has also obtained jury verdicts in excess of $50 million representing corporate plaintiffs in cases involving such issues as breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference with a contract and piercing the corporate veil, among others.
