Bio

Alan Purdie of Madison, Mississippi received his bachelor of arts from Delta State University in 1976, and his juris doctorate from the University of Mississippi in 1978. He is the owner of Purdie & Metz, PLLC in Ridgeland. After practicing in Grenada until July 1, 1988, Purdie moved to Madison to work for the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. He spent approximately 10 years there, working as assistant attorney general in charge of the Mississippi Department of Transportation legal division, and then later, as deputy attorney general and chief of staff for then Mississippi Attorney General Mike Moore.

In 1998, Alan returned to private practice, eventually starting his own firm in 2006. His practice has focused on defense-oriented litigation in the areas of construction, employment and contract law. He also has handled more than 100 eminent domain cases, many through the trial and Appellate Courts, including all the acquisition litigation for the Nissan and Toyota projects.

He was recently elected as a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation.
