After years as a shareholder at the Salt Lake Law firm of Jones Waldo where he served on the board of directors, Andy founded Deiss Law PC. Andy's practice focuses on business litigation, personal injury and criminal defense. He has defended businesses ranging in size from sole proprietorships to Fortune 100 companies in cases involving employment issues, business torts, antitrust, securities, intellectual property disputes and more; he has successfully prosecuted and defended personal injury disputes well in excess of seven figures; and has defended clients in a wide range of criminal matters from DUIs to kidnapping, securities fraud, and manslaughter.

Andy has been been recognized as one of Utah's Legal Elite by Utah Business Magazine for over a decade. He has also been identified by Thomson Reuters as a Super Lawyer since 2010 and selected a Super Lawyer Top 100 Mountain States Lawyer. U.S. News and World Reports continues to recognize his firm as a Best Law Firm and he has been chosen as a Best Lawyer every year since 2011. Best Lawyers in America named him Antitrust Lawyer of The Year in Salt Lake City in 2016 and 2019. Avvo has given him the rating of Superb 10 out of 10 Top Litigation Attorney.

A graduate of Yale University, where, among other things, he played on the varsity ice hockey team for all four years. Andy went on to earn a master’s degree in American legal history at the University of Chicago and his law degree at the University of Chicago Law School. His legal scholarship has been cited in more than 200 law review articles and other publications and in numerous court opinions, including one opinion from the Supreme Court of the United States.

Early in his career, Mr. Deiss served as a clerk for a justice of the Utah Supreme Court. He later served as a pro tempore judge for the 3rd Judicial District of Utah. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Utah where he teaches comparative legal systems, American legal history and the First Amendment at The University of Utah, and for over a decade has been invited to be a trial advocacy Instructor at the prestigious National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
