Anne Kelly Zovas concentrates her practice in the areas of workers’ compensation, civil and insurance litigation. She received her B.A., Cum Laude, from Boston College in 1983 and her J.D. from the University Of Connecticut School Of Law in 1986. She is admitted to practice before the state and U.S. District courts as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals.

Attorney Zovas represents municipalities, self-insurers as well as insured employers before the Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Commission.  She has defended numerous cases before the Commission to successful conclusion.  She has argued before the Appellate and Supreme Courts in the State of Connecticut. Attorney Zovas has defended employers in civil cases involving claims of intentional misconduct.  In two of those cases, Attorney Zovas represented manufacturing industry employers in appeals before the Connecticut Appellate Court in which the court ruled in her clients’ favor barring the employees’ claims under the workers’ compensation exclusive remedy rule. Those decisions have served to limit the exposure of employers charged with tortious acts by an employee injured in the course of employment.

Attorney Zovas has represented employers in civil court matters, protecting their rights of subrogation in third party actions. Attorney Zovas successfully argued before the Connecticut Supreme Court in a case that established that self-insured employers are entitled to reimbursement from the Connecticut Insurance Guaranty Association in third party claims.

Attorney Zovas has spoken frequently on the topics of worker’s compensation and subrogation both at public seminars and in individual presentations to clients.

Attorney Zovas has an “AV” preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.  She has been named in New England Super Lawyers magazine.  She is an active member of the Hartford County Bar Association and a past president of the Hartford County Bar Foundation.  She is a J. Coopers Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Association and is a member of the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association.
