Bio

Mary Nold Larimore focuses her practice on the defense of product liability claims involving pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers and chemical companies; toxic tort litigation; and high stakes commercial litigation. She has served as national, regional, local and expert witness counsel in national product liability litigation and regularly addresses scientific, epidemiologic and complex medical issues in multi-jurisdictional litigation.

Passionate about the law, medicine, science and engineering, Mary is appreciated for her pragmatism and personal commitment to defending clients whose mission is to advance public health in the U.S. and around the world. A clear and concise communicator who gives her clients the information they need to make practical business decisions surrounding often complicated disputes, Mary focuses on resource conservation and solutions that make sense for her clients, the bottom line and their brands and reputations. Mary is valued by the legal community for her unwavering professionalism and respectful approach to advocacy, as well as for her meticulous case preparation, attention to detail and fact-based, concise and persuasive written and oral arguments in and out of court. Mary is a leader in promoting diversity in the legal profession and has used her talents in high profile pro bono litigation before the Court of Appeals and Indiana Supreme Court.

Mary was the first woman from the state of Indiana to be inducted as a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and has served as chair of the Supreme Court Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure, with two five-year terms on the Committee by appointment of the Chief Justice. She was appointed to the Indiana Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness for the State Board of Law Examiners. Mary testified before the Federal Rules Advisory Committee on the proposed changes to the federal rules relating to discovery in 2014, and as a member of the Lawyers for Civil Justice, she continues to work on improving federal rules of procedure and evidence. She is a fellow of American College of Trial Lawyers (appointed to the Complex Litigation Committee in 2015), a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and a member of Defense Research Institute, Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, International Association of Defense Counsel, Lawyers for Civil Justice and United States Supreme Court Historical Society and a past member of Defense Research Institute Drug and Device Steering Committee and National Center for State Courts.

Recognized by Best Lawyers® and Indiana Super Lawyers and selected as one of the Top 25 Female Attorneys in the state of Indiana, Mary received the highest honor from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law when she was inducted to the Academy of Law Alumni Fellows. Mary was a member of the faculty of the 1997 IADC Trial Academy and has been on the faculty of a National Institute for Trial Advocacy seminar. Mary was featured in the Indiana Lawyer's Leaders in Litigation in 2015. In addition, Mary serves on the Board of Directors for the Indianapolis Ballet Conservatory and on the Board of Visitors for the Indiana University Maurer School of Law at Bloomington. She is a member of the Indiana and Indianapolis Bar Associations. Notably, she was honored to participate as a member of the 1998-1999 class of the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Services Series, a state leadership series for women.

Mary has been active in publishing and speaking on issues concerning product liability, legal issues affecting the liability of pharmaceutical and drug and device manufacturers, privacy, electronic discovery, medical malpractice and the Federal Rules of Evidence. She is co-chair of the Firm’s Drug and Device Group and served as a director in the Firm’s Litigation Section, the first woman at Ice Miller to serve in that role. She regularly writes and speaks on the implication of Daubert on expert testimony. She speaks frequently on issues pertaining to discovery, including a presentation on "Proportionality in Electronic Discovery" to the Indiana Judicial College in 2010 and a presentation on "Civil Discovery: Privacy Protection v. Full Disclosure" at the 58th Annual Meeting of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association.

Mary received her Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, from Indiana University. She holds a juris doctor from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, where she graduated cum laude in 1980. While in law school, she was note editor of the Indiana Law Journal.

Mary joined Ice Miller in 1980. She is admitted to practice in the state of Indiana.
