Bio

Chastiti Horne is the managing partner of Horne Rota Moos, LLP whose primary practice is healthcare defense (with a specialty in assisted living/nursing home defense) and hotel/restaurant liability. Chastiti represents hospitals, physicians, nurses, healthcare staffing agencies, LTC/ALF facilities and dentists in defending against medical malpractice lawsuits. Chastiti acts as panel counsel for several national leading NH/ALF companies and also is counsel for several large hospitals and healthcare staffing companies. She also represents one of the largest restaurant/entertainment chains in the United States. Chastiti has tried to verdict cases involving NH/ALF/IF facilities, physicians, hospitals and medical staffing agencies as well as cases involving civil actions against restaurant/entertainment chains. Throughout her career, she has also defended cases regarding catastrophic injury/wrongful death, premises, products and construction defect claims. Her firm also handles: appeals, elevator/escalator claims, employment law, administrative claims, coverage disputes, bad faith, oil & gas, trucking and constitutional law claims.

Further, she provides risk management services to her healthcare clients such as documentation and staffing guidance, social media risks and policy and procedure issues and how these areas relate to litigation concerns. She also provides in-depth seminars on deposition preparation and prepares client specific risk management training to her clients. She has spoken on healthcare and general risk topics on the local and national levels. Each year, she hosts a risk management conference for the ALF/LTC industry bringing in top experts and cutting edge topics.

Chastiti was named as one of Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2017. She was previously featured in Time Magazine’s “Salute to Women in Leadership” (2008) and was awarded the 2012 Harris County Bench Bar Pro Bono Award for an Individual for her work with Child Advocates. She also received the 2001 Harris County Adult Volunteer of the Year award and has been named to the Texas Super Lawyer list by Texas Monthly 2012 - 2018, as well as, Texas Rising Star-Super Lawyer 2007 through 2011. Chastiti was named “Litigator of the Week” by Texas Lawyer Magazine in February 2014. She was also named a 2014 Woman on the Move by Texas Executive Women and chosen as the 2016 South Texas College of Law Alumni Public Service award recipient. Chastiti is a Life Fellow with the Houston Bar Foundation, President of the Greater Houston Society for Healthcare Risk Management, member of the DRI, member of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and member of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel (Nominating Committee 2009). Chastiti was also named as a Top Lawyer by Houstonia Magazine in 2016 and 2017. She currently serves on the Advisory Board of Directors for Child Advocates, Inc., the Board of Trustees for St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, the Alumni Board of Directors for Panola College (Secretary) and the South Texas College of Law Alumni Board of Directors.

Chastiti obtained her law degree from South Texas College of Law and undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.
